About SQLMentor
SQLMentor is a free, ad-free platform for learning Oracle SQL, PL/SQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, SQL*Loader, and IBM DB2 hands-on — built by a small team of database practitioners who were tired of tutorials that don't let you actually run the queries.
Everything on the site — the six learn tracks, the free in-browser SQL editor, the certification practice exams, the quiz, and the interview question sets — is free to use with no signup, no email wall, and no display ads.
Who we are
SQLMentor is written and maintained by the SQLMentor Team: engineers with hands-on experience running Oracle, PostgreSQL, and SQL Server in production, who write, test, and revise every tutorial and practice question ourselves. We are not affiliated with Oracle, Microsoft, IBM, PostgreSQL, or any certification vendor referenced on this site — the certification practice exams are independent study material, not official exam content.
How we write and verify content
Every example is runnable
Tutorial examples and interview-question answers are written against a real Oracle HR schema and tested in SQLMentor's own free SQL editor before publishing — not copy-pasted from documentation and left unverified.
A consistent template, every topic
Every learn-track topic follows the same structure — Overview, Syntax, Examples, Notes & Tips, Practice Exercises, and a Quick Quiz — so you always know what to expect and can compare dialects (Oracle vs. PostgreSQL vs. T-SQL) directly.
Dated and revised, not abandoned
Every topic and exam page carries a visible last-updated date. Content is revisited when a certification exam blueprint changes or a database version introduces new syntax, rather than being published once and left to go stale.
What SQLMentor is not
- Not an exam-dump site — every certification practice question is original, written to teach the underlying concept rather than memorize a leaked answer key
- Not a paid course — there is no premium tier, no locked content, and no upsell
- Not officially affiliated with Oracle, Microsoft, IBM, or the PostgreSQL project — trademark names are used descriptively to identify the technologies taught
